AR Selfie Safari
AR Selfie Safari
Red Frog Digital has partnered with Knowsley Safari for the launch of their app ‘AR Safari by Knowsley’. This is the first time Knowsley has incorporated Augmented Reality (AR) into the attraction. The app is used as a way to promote their Safari Guide Book and works in conjunction with this. Certain pages of the book bring their animals to life with use of the app and allow users to find out additional educational information about the animals habitats, diets and behaviour. The app also has a 5 level quiz structure allowing users to pit their whits after their visit to the safari!
After the success of the guide book AR, Red Frog were asked by Knowsley to create an Augmented Reality selfie trail – ‘Safari Selfie’. This allowed visitors to the safari to hunt around the park itself on foot and find the AR animals hidden about – proving great fun for families (young and old alike!). Knowsley Safari ran a competition on social media with a FREE family membership going to the visitors who submitted the most creative photo with their AR Animals!
Rachel Scott is Head of Marketing, Knowsley Estate. She says: “We started to think about activities that would keep people engaged and maintain interest. It was during the early stages of planning the guidebook that we met James [Loveridge] from Red Frog Digital.
When he showed us examples of some of the augmented reality Red Frog had worked with, we thought it would be an ideal addition to our guidebook, something a little bit different, engaging and encouraging people to use it once they got home. So that was how the Knowsley App came about. It fitted really nicely with our objectives.”
