April's AR Easter Adventure

April’s Easter Adventure campaign was launched in late March 2019 across all of Sainsbury’s 600 plus UK stores. The Augmented Reality App was targeted at young families as a great way for children to have fun while their parents or carers do the weekly shop. Red Frog Digital developed the app and its characters around an Easter theme, where users needed to hunt down April the Easter Bunny and her 5 friends who are hiding around the store.

Shoppers were given clues in the app as they made their way around the supermarket, so they can solve the mystery of where April’s friends are hiding – a lamb, chick, deer, fox and duck, all dotted around the store. There’s plenty of content to keep kids happy while parents shop.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said: “We’re always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to innovate and reward our customers. This interactive app is a first for Sainsbury’s and is the perfect way to keep the kids entertained during the Easter break whilst parents tick off their weekly shop. We’re excited to see families get involved as they search the stores looking for April and her friends this Easter.”
